Skateboard wheels
Professional skaters use different wheels depending on
what style they’re riding. Vert/ramp skaters ride on large wheels
for speed, but street riders often use small wheels because they are
light and put the deck close to the ground. Having the deck closer to
the ground makes it easier to perform tricks like kick-flips and ollies.
Some of the companies that make skateboard wheels include:
• Spitfire
• Bones
• OJ
• Sector Nine
• Ricta
Skateboard wheels also come in different degrees of hardness. Cruisers
and long boards need large, soft wheels to roll over loose debris without
throwing the rider off. The most common, all-around wheel is in the
range of 52mm to 54 mm and a hardness of 99a.
